At the Diana Award, we understand that young people are often looked at negatively by society and the media. Our Award Holders challenge that perception and are showcased as role models who are creating culture where young people are proud to be making a difference.

The Diana Award has five catagories for individulals and groups of young people aged between 9 and 18. Every successful nominee will receive a prestigious national award which will boost their self-esteem and confidence but it doesn’t stop there!

The Mayors award was awarded to Darwin Bernardo of Barnet. A young man who has worked extensively on a voluntary basis over the last seven years to set up youth activities and projects in Barnet. Most notable is his foundation of the Nutmeg Community Project to unite, educate and inspire 11-25 year olds in Barnet, which has benefited more than 4,000 young people in his area.

The programme will support a young person to:
ü Influence how an organisation engages young people through leading their own project
ü Develop skills and experience
ü Become a young leader
ü Meet other inspirational young people from across the country
ü Get paid to do all of the above!

As part of the Changemakers Organisational Development Programme the successful young person will have the opportunity to learn and develop alongside young people with the same passion, drive and commitment as them. The successful candidate will need to be able to attend the residential from Monday 23rd April (evening) – Wednesday 25th April 2012 (afternoon) – the dates for this residential are fixed so unfortunately we won’t be able to change it. I have attached some more detailed information about the programme.

If their application is shortlisted I will be in touch by 15th March 2012 to invite them to the next stage of the process which is a selection day. The selection day will be in London on Tuesday 20th March 2012.

You will be working as part of a skilled team engaging with economically inactive residents, signposting residents onto Employability, Enterprise and Training programmes through outreach by door knocking and as part of organised job fairs.

If you have a Level 2 Qualification in Information Advice and Guidance and/or significant experience, providing IAG in a work setting or if you are bilingual in any of the following languages; Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, French/Lingala, Kurdish, Polish, Portuguese, Somali, Spanish, Tigrinyan.

This position calls for flexible working with some evening and weekend work expected.

Developed by the Museum’s Young Consultants, young people are invited to a FREE one day session to work with professional artists Dean Atta and Laila Sumpton from the Keats House Young Poets Forum.

During the workshop they will be challenged to develop their own spoken word pieces inspired by the themes of the exhibition.

This is a fabulous opportunity for aspiring or established young spoken word artists to gain exposure with their peers, build confidence and learn public performance skills.
